Recent Paintings by Alexis Grant.
Alexis Grant’s landscapes apply the tradition of plein air landscape painting to contemporary urban surroundings. Grant’s work draws attention to unnoticed elements of the Bay View and other Bay Area neighborhoods. In the work, images of graffiti, cars, scavenger recycling trucks, and community gardens are reconfigured within a genre usually concerned with scenes of the pastoral.
The painterly effect is bright, lush and contemporary while refusing to be post-modern.
Opening reception, Thursday, July 3rd, 8pm - midnight.
